I graduated from design school in 2009. Last year of school while studying I designed products from cassette tape with my friend Greta. Our label was called Hemming & Willström. In the first two pictures below are some of our products from an exhibition that we held at our school. The last two pictures are from the time when we designed a bracelet from cassette tape.

ReplyDeleteHey :) Thanks for your comment!
Deletehow did you get yours to curve uniformly like that
ReplyDeleteHi Katvamp!
DeleteWe used a tin can which we put in a VERY hot water and pressed the cassettes against it.
We noticed that there is a difference between cassettes. They aren't all made of exactly same materials so some bent better that others. We found those white cassettes shown in these pictures from a thrift store and they all looked the same and they also bent quite uniformly.
What Type of cassettes are those ?
ReplyDeleteI don't know how accurately I can answer, because we bought them second hand.
DeleteThe white cassettes: somebody had recorded speeches to them and there were no labels.
The black cassettes: There were labels, but I don't remember anymore what were they.
If you have problems with bending the cassette, you should pick another one that doesn't look the same. I don't know which types bend well. I only know that some cassette types will bend better than others.
I hope this helps at least a little! :)
